Over 300 Revolutionary War reenactors from across the country mustered in Greensboro on March 12 &13 for the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, which originally occurred on March 15, 1781. The reenactment attracts hundreds of participants and thousands of onlookers to see a live recreation of the original battle and life in the combatants camps. American and British troops fire on each other with cannons and flintlock muskets as they advance toward each other on the rolling fields of Country Park in Greensboro, NC, the county seat of Guilford County. During the American Revolutionary War a 2,100-man British force under the command of Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis defeated Major General Nathanael Greene's 4,500 Americans. The British Army, however, lost a considerable number of men during the battle with estimates as high as 27%. Such heavy British casualties resulted in a strategic victory for the Americans.
• 6th North Carolina Regiment's Mattie Carter, 7, plays The Game of Graces.

The Game of Graces was a popular activity for young girls during the early 1800s. The game was invented in France during the first quarter of the 19th century and called there le jeu des Graces. The Game of Graces was considered a proper game benefiting young ladies and, supposedly, tailored to make them more graceful. Graces was hardly ever played by boys, and never played by two boys at the same time, either two girls, or a boy and a girl.
• Militia regiment members storm from the woods at the edge of the battlefield. Militia members would have been citizens resisting British rule that were not part of the formal American regiments.

According to reenactor Lauren Osborne, "In the battle, General Greene had the first line comprised of all militia. He asked them to shoot 2 or 3 volleys then retreat. Then he had more militia at the second line to do the same. This was to lessen the Brtiish troops by the time they reached the third line which was all continental army. That tactic was first used in the battle of Cowpens and it worked really well. General Green also wanted to inflict the most casualties possible and retreat. That depleted the British forces so much it turned the tide and led to the victory in Yorktown."
