Employe David Rojas places a lighted star atop a new sample tree after a customer purchased the pervious one.
Hickory Creek Farm is located on Burnetts Chapel Rd. in Greensboro, NC. The Christmas tree farm’s philosophy is, “We are a NC Century Farm dedicated to providing you with a beautiful Christmas Tree and a memorable family experience.” Kevin Gray, a captain with the city of Greensboro Fired Department, helped convert his father’s decades of focus on growing tobacco, vegetables and livestock to growing Christmas trees about 6 years ago. Gray says the farm was originally started by his great grandfather in 1913. Gray learned the business with another farmer for 12 years before embarking on tree sales five years ago. The sales operation sells a mix of trees grown by him and other North Carolina farmers at his retail location at his barn.
Was tobacco, vegetables and livestock for majority of that time until we started with the tree planting about 6 years ago.
The farm was actually originally started by my great grandfather in 1913
This is our fifth season here at the farm. I have worked for another farmer with trees for 12 years before that
